Austin Woodward named WYO Gatorade Player of the Year

Austin Woodward has been named the 2009 Wyoming Gatorade. Woodward played QB, LB and P for the Sheridan Broncs this year leading them to a state title.

Woodward threw for 1,809 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushed for 1,023 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Broncs. He also maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. With the recent decommit of QB CJ Bennett perhaps Woodward could find himself in Laramie next year.

Right now on Woodward's Rival site there are seven schools listed as interested in Woodward but he has not made any visits or recieved any scholarship offers.

The seven schools are:

Boise State
Colorado
Colorado State
Nebraska
Nevada
Stanford
Utah State

You'll notice that Wyoming is absent from the list but hopefully that will change soon. Letting a talent like Woodward out of the state of Wyoming would be a shame. Keeping any home grown talent will be very important to the success of the Cowboys.

Woodward is currently listed at 6'2 and 210 lbs Woodward is best labeled as an ATH and could help out of offense or defense.
