Hoopsters hit the road
The Cowboys will play their first game on the road this evening after posting a 2-1 record to start the season. Heading down 1-25 the Pokes will stop in Denver to take on the University of Denver Pioneers.
Currently sitting at 2-1 the Pios are one of the hottest shooting teams in the NCAA right now. Currently tied at seventh in the nation in 3P% at 49.1% led by Brian Stafford is hitting 71% of his shots from long range.
Nate Rohnert the Senior guard is the big threat for the Pioneers as currently leads the team in points (17) rebounds (6.7) and assists (6.1). Containing Rohnert will be the key to success if the Cowboys want to grab the victory on the road.
Desmar Jackson may start at PG for the Cowboys and be given the task of defending Rohnert if Jaydee Luster is unable to go. Luster suffered a sprained right shoulder early in Saturdays game against Boise State. Expect him to be a game day decision.
Wyoming leads the series with Denver 98-46 and have a 36-32 advantage on games played in Denver.
Game time is 7pm MST.
I also nominate the Pioneers for having one of the worst logos in the NCAA. The team is called the Pioneers but their logo looks like some type of bird. Is it a turkey or a hawk? I can't tell.
